Google spies and internet cat fights
This weeks readings.. I had a harder time following these readings, It might be the ADHD but I don't really want to blame it completly on that. The readings were harder to wrap my brain around than normal. Lets start with the first reading in this weeks series which deals with AT&T not wanting to be a neutral carrier any longer. I remain on the side of those fighting to keep carriers netural. If sites like AT&T start putting prices on certain sites for having more info or downloads, those prices are going to convert over to users... like me. I don't want to start paying more for Itunes! If the sites don't remain neutral users of the internet have their freedom violated again since certain sites that didn't have the money to compete with google would become blocked while those able to make the price cut woule become favored. In order for browing freedom to remain the way it is the carriers need to remain neutral as well. Alright enough of that nonsense the more important discovery I made in the readings is that google was is to get me. In the article it explains how google keeps a database of any one users search history. I was suprised and a little discomforted to learn this. I see the business pros to looking at what people search and create better user profiles and follow fraud, But I think it goes against all of our personal rights for the government to be able to pull up a search subject and a list of names connected to that information. I guess it is almost fair to say nothing on the web is private. Attorney's are now starting to use search engines as evidence in trials. If this is already happening it is just a start to more invasion of internet privacy. Who's to say Bush won't start using that google search of "ways to grow marajuana" to drug bust? A fair compromise would be for search engines such as google and yahoo to delete their history of users searches every two months, its a start at getting our privacy back. Looks like I will have to stop googling my own name... I don't want to look vain to the CIA.

It begins...
Well here it is the first assignment.. is it posted on the right day? Maybe..not.. but it's here. After reading the emailing and netiquette rules I have a few thoughts. At my place of employment I use email daily, sending people their account balances and payment plans, and as a email vetran I have come across several of the email trouble spots that the readings point out. Several people like to attach useless signatures to their replys. Gigantic pictures of Music notes and daily quotes that are too hideous for the naked eye clog up my inbox and take twice as long to open. The frustration of waiting for the message to open completley destroys the thoughts they were trying to convey with their personal graphic attachement. Secondly, I often open up emails to my enjoyment that are full of angry and obsecene words that hardly follow the golden rule of email. I understand that I am a debt collector but the rules still apply and the customer conveys themselves as unprofessional, uneducated, and still in debt. The netiqutte rule to remember the Human is well said, I like the idea of remembering that you are communicating with a person not a computer. This is why it is great that technology is evolving and we not only have email but sites like facebook that allow us to interact more personally and connect more realisticlly, three cheers for that. Lastly, and nothing to do with the actual readings, why do so many male accounts that I come across have emails such as sexyflirtkiss74@email.com? Clearly I am not the only one confused.

Testing 1 2....testing
Welcome to the blog created for online journalism by yours truly. I always stalk my friends blogs so I guess its pretty much about time I have my own. Although this won't be a married blog, I hope I will still be accepted into the blogging world. Small update on my daily activities--Its the third year at Utah State and my major is sticking at broadcast journalism...with an minor in gold digging, don't judge me. I will probably keep this blog mostly for class assignments but if anything in my personal life is newsworthy I will make it be heard.
