8-)
First things first everyone look up Wedding ring exchange failed on youtube. Now that I have your attention.... let me bore you. The first reading about link bombing was pretty interesting. It reminded me how much I rely on search engines to direct me to the most informative and credible websites in relation to any ridiculous thing I type in the search. I like how Danny Sullivan says that people think anything past the first page of search results is not important. I hardly ever go past the first few pages, I never stopped to think that information beyond the first page holds good reliable sites. Hats off to Sullivan. Just for fun I typed in worthless speeches and unsuprisingly Bush's name was in the first result. Not to say that anyone link bombed the two but it was humorous all the same. As far as the second reading goes, I am not big on virtual chat, Instant messanger was the popular form of communication when I attended the 7th grade. I am from the texting age, why use a computer when you have a miniature portable one in your pocket to message from, so I basically related the reading to texting instead. One point I liked was about the smileys and elipses used in online writings. It is wild to think that people use digital communication enough that it has its own lingo and symbols that express a whole meaning and emotion. Many say that texting and digital communication such as online chatting take away from the real feelings of actually having face to face communication, and that those that use it too much will lack the social skills when in a real life situation. I say that is ignorant. Unless someone stays locked up in their house all their life they will still get enough face to face interaction to function and digital communication is yet another means to connect with another human more easily at times that would normally be impossible or inconvienent for either party. The third reading...was informative. :S
